WHILE YOU'RE HERE
Try The Hum
This one is for when your mind won't stop. It's simple, quiet, and you can do it right now without anyone noticing. It's one of the five skills in your kit — a good place to start.
Here's how:
1. Take a comfortable breath in — no need to force it.
2. As you exhale, hum softly — any pitch, any sound. Let it vibrate in your chest and throat.
3. Do this three to five times. Slow. Let the hum last a little longer than feels necessary.
4. Notice what happens in your body when you stop. That quiet is real.
The hum activates your vagus nerve — the same system that gets dysregulated when you're running on empty. You're not performing calm. You're creating the conditions for it.
